This movie was kind of blah to me. The first Scream was my favorite horror movie and this just didn't seem to take off to me. There were a couple of scenes that didn't make any sense to me at all. There is a part where the sheriff calls in backup to go to a scene in which she herself hasn't arrived yet. She arrives to investigate and a couple of murders take place before the cops even arrive. Why did they take so long? Another scene happens in a hospital. All the lights go out and a main character is trying to avoid Ghostface. But, the whole hospital corridors are empty. Like where are all the other patients, nurses, doctors, etc.? Hospitals are usually buzzing with activity and then there is a blackout and no one goes in the halls to investigate? They make it like she was being kept in an abandoned facility.
The young first girl in the movie was a great actress. The movie opened with so much possibility but seemed to just downhill after that. There was an overly dramatic scene between Gail and Dewey that did not feel believable at all. The cast acted well enough but I predicted the killers shortly after the film began. There were a couple of jump scares, but
nothing too surprising here. I was somewhat disappointed. To further aggravation, they killed off some of the likable characters as well.
They also put in the F word so many times that it was over the top. Really? It was like they couldn't think of any other good dialogue. There were also these weird hallucination scenes that didn't make sense at all and were so unnecessary. They were just strange.
David Arquette is always awesome as Dewey. Neve Campbell was her great self too. She doesn't seem to age either. Even the young cast was decent. I didn't hate the film, I just didn't like it either.
