I listened to this on audible when my child was reading it for school. I really enjoyed the story, the mix and description of 1700s life,...the author painted a vivid account of "real" life through the main character, tied in historical facts, and actually helped me imagine in my mind what life was like then... (i am not eloquent with words) but this author is! This story is well told, and was quite delightful to listen to on audible. My daughter read the printed school book, then prior to her final exam on the book, she then listened to it... we enjoyed talking about it and she liked that it was told through a girl that she felt in a way she could relate to. Yes, it was sad, yes it was based on historic facts, but it also was enjoyable, and captivated our imagination and almost transported us back in timeπ!
My child really LOVED this book, and made her want to read more and learn more about this time period... it enhanced our perspective...and now almost 2yrs later, we still talk about this book!! It has been eye-opening to compare 1793 to 2020!!... my teen was sarcastic and said all of our political leaders should have read this in January/February! π·π€... so
.. kudos to the author.. you inspired my young teen.. and now 2+years later she still is referring back to your story!ππ
