I think "The Autopsy of Jane Doe" is very suspenseful and scary. It has unique story elements, compared to many other horror movies. I enjoyed the medical analysis (I loved ER on TV) and explanations of why their findings are so bizarre and the reasons for them being speculated. So, no, there is no clear or obvious explanation, and there are conflicting facts, but that adds to the horror element for me. It's the not knowing and the confusion that scares me. I wonder about the negative comments, which are in the minority opinion. Are you a professional actor? Why do you criticize someone's performance when you are not an expert in that field?

The movie Sissy is entertaining, for both psychological thrillers and horror killer films, wrapped up into one movie. The two lead women actors were unknown to me, yet did amazing performances. A cautionary tale for both bullies and those who get their self esteem by the number of their online followers. Both are phony and insecure, and therefore, not worth it. Includes issues of "best friends forever" and lesbianism. The DVD has a great Bonus feature of a long interview with the two writers/directors.

Yes, you do need patience to watch most of the Smiley Face Killers. Finding the lead actor, Ronen Rubinstein, as a handsome guy worth watching and caring about helps. Most of the action is toward the ending. The trailer is deceptive in showing mostly the last part. It seems to me that most trailers show the most exciting scenes. Also, it has an ending that leaves you with more questions than answers.

Almost didn't watch The Black Phone film, because of how scary the "Grabber" is in his mask. So, was surprised it is not that scary, especially compared to most of the recent horror films. It is more of a suspense thriller, and a great coming of age story. Since I was a teenager in the late 1970's, it was nice to see guys with long hair. Definitely worth watching, more than once. DVD has some great Bonus Features. For example, interviews with Ethan Hawke. Also, the type of film and technique used to capture an authentic 1970's look.

I really enjoy Countdown 2024. Bought Dvd+BR & watched a few times. Characters ask, "Why would you want to know when you're going to die?" It's a thought provoking question. The 3 main characters are introduced a bit later on, in hospital, family, and cell phone store scenes. All 3 (2 sisters & a guy) were amazing actors, and good looking too, to me. Then, the 2nd priest they meet is hilarious. Scary with humor gives a nice break in tension. Additional plots make a full story line and touching scenes. Not just a jump scare type horror film, and yet, it does have a few of those too. Highly recommend.

Starts out with character development. Then, the dire setting and routine. Then drama, action, and scary, yet believable/real looking monster creatures, that are shown partially, before seeing all (mystery builds tension). Unique horror film. Great acting. Good bonus features (e.g., explains and shows how creatures are not all CGI.) This is an atypical post nuclear film, so that's not the focus of the story.
