I loved this movie, it was refreshing to see a dinosaur movie not related to JP. I love that it made dinosaurs scary again, and I definitely want to see more movies like this. In terms of realism, there really aren’t that many ways you can put humans in the same time period as dinosaurs, so him being a futuristic alien, really reminded me of movies like Jim Caviezel’s Outlander, which I also loved. In terms of the plot, why does it have to be anything more than a survival film? I mean Quiet Place wasn’t anything more than a family surviving aliens and also working through the grief of losing a child, sure there were more people in that film, but it didn’t have to be anything more than what it was. Personally, what I thought added a lot of depth was Mills character development in relation to his grief, similar to John Krasinski‘s character. Having lost a sense of purpose he had found it in Koa. Driver and Greenblatt’s acting was phenomenal, you can feel the emotions of grief and fear. All and all, if you liked the late 90s/early 2000s sci-fi monster survival films, you’ll like this one as it feels very nostalgic. It’s just a simple action movie with dinosaurs, and I am here for it! 🍿
