I picked up this book assuming it was a drama mystery and was surprised when I realized I was reading horror. Not the story I expected but I was glad I read it nonetheless. Packed with a slimey surprising turn that can only be likened to the troop by Nick cutter. If you like horror, mystery, and maybe a healthy dose of generational trauma therapy you will like this novel. The vivid descriptions of anger, anxiety, and deep pain were the most unsettlingly accurate I’ve ever read, in a way that can only be written by someone who has lived it. Abe writes deftly about trauma, pain, confrontation, and all things horror fantasy. I’ve never wanted to be inside of a horror novel more than I did while reading this, as disgusting of a journey as it ends up being Abe manages to delight you with equally horrifying and mystically beautiful imagery.
