I’ve read and enjoyed all the other Ophan X books, but could not even get through this dross. By the start of chapter 7 I was actually angry that I was duped into buying this book. I thought I was buying a book about The Nowhere Man, an assassin. Not an emotionally volatile and damaged teenage girl. I guess I didn’t realize that Hurwitz had started writing young adult teen girl melodrama fiction.
Why is Evan being led around by the nose and constantly lectured by a sanctimonious teenage girl?! Joey as a character is so stunted, annoying and unbelievable as to be absurd. If you like the rest of these books skip this one, and if you haven’t read any yet DO NOT read this one and think it is representative of the others.
