I enjoyed it rather well. While not as much as Until Dawn, it contains some of the same elements while having a slight tweak in some of the quick time elements. For example I love how at points in the game, during the escape events will randomly switch to the other characters in the game.
Just like any horror movie(any movie or story in general really), you find yourself drawn to one or two characters while disliking others. There’s always the good natured central character while you have the others that are more on the stuck up, anal, goofy, or moody side that you want to punch in the face. While there was a point I wanted certain ones die, I decided to have everyone get along around midway through as I feel most people would try to survive together. Maybe that’s my optimism speaking.
Off the top of my head I can’t really say there’s anything I absolutely just didn’t like. I gave it four stars only because I didn’t like the story as much as Until Dawn or Man of Medan. It does contain satanic elements such as the stories witch craft, but I also see it from the aspect as it does reflect a historical timeframe of history as people centuries ago were in fact were falsely accusing others of being witches.
I certainly plan on giving it a few more plays. In my original play through, only one character died so I have to save him while making sure I still save the others. I also plan on trying to kill everyone off as well. Gotta experience the good with the bad with multiple endings in a game like this. Plus I also have to experience the Director Cut as well. It’ll be fun to see how the choices you make as some characters in the main story may not have the same result as now that the character you previously played is no longer in your hands. Here’s an example if you’re new to this style of gameplay. In the main version you’re(made up names here)Bill talking to Amy & you hear Janet do something. In the directors cut, you’re now Janet and make a choice, but won’t know how Bill & Amy will react as they may make the opposite decision of what you made in the main story.
Again if you like this style of gameplay, you gotta experience it at least once.
