Beautiful show about what it’s really like for black women out here.
To those of you who didn’t like the show because there was too much sex- easily could have turned it off. You made yourself uncomfortable watching it. The sex scenes needed to portray what it’s really like out here. Especially, for the black community.
To those of you offended by the show and you’re white.
1. The show isn’t for you. It hit the audience it was supposed to.
2. We don’t have to keep explaining why there was call outs of sarcasm and satire in the show regarding your privilege and flaunting of racism. It amazes me that so many of you can sit back and criticize a show fixed on truths about black culture when it doesn’t include you benefitting. You felt like something was being taken from you and needed to gain it back, so you do so by pointing out the way the show calls you out. You don’t have a problem with racism, you have a problem with being called out on it.
3. For those of you that are black and offended by the truth this series carried, seriously!? Like our black men and women aren’t out here lost and really life like it was portrayed in the show? Like we don’t know black women like Molly? Like black women aren’t struggling to find their identities and struggling to have a connection with our black men? Come on, now. You e watched so many movies and shows that paint romance and love white that when we see the truth of what it’s really like for our people, the jealousy and envy turns into rage. You’re angry at a show? Nah, you’re triggered.
It is what it is. The show had great build. And it was great to see black women succeed and win without having to settle for men outside their own, life outside their own culture and people. It was amazing to see the transitions for what it was signifying for our people.
