Mixed reaction.
Michael Douglas is disappointing in his role as Ben Franklin. I just read a Douglas interview that he opted to forgo the grueling prosthetics work for over 2 hours to liken his appearance to Franklin. I can appreciate that. But I do think he could have been a bit more portly . Fine that he did forgo the facial prosthetics but it did not seem that Michael Douglas studied his character enough. Mannerisms and voice could have been more emphasized and create the dramatic.
Or even attempt to get rid of ‘Michael Douglas’ and immerse himself to be Franklin.
BUT then again he is 79.
guess Michael Douglas was the hook. But as stated elsewhere in the reviews the
Other actors did carry the storyline.
And as I told my husband, yes there was some WOKE in the story as well.
Watched all three episodes and will watch the remainder as the historical significance of Benjamin Franklin’s efforts have been overshadowed by so many others. He still does not get the recognition he deserved.
Founding Father yes… but the ‘art of diplomacy’ is not discussed enough.
