The only good thing about this movie is Adam Sandler’s performance. He sheds his comedic self and becomes a believable tragic character. However, the character he plays is unsympathetic, annoying, narcissistic, chaotic, and without redeeming qualities. There is no underlying message, no real thread that lures you to the gem the movie is supposed to be tied to, and no great suspense. When I exited to use the restroom, it happened to be the climax of the movie. Not only did I not feel the tenseness and suspense you should feel at the moment of the “big game,” but the only reason I bothered to come back to watch the end was that both my coat and my husband were still in the theater. I did not care one iota how it ended and was not shocked at the moment that was supposed to be startling. I simply shrugged my shoulders and left. I love to go to the movies, but I would have preferred to curl up with a good book than be subjected to this one.
