To the best of my knowledge the film is historically correct and portrays the events leading up to the appalling event of the Peterloo massacre, but, as a film it is absolutely dire! A big fan of Mike Leigh's work I could hardly believe what I was attempting to watch. Even the standard of acting from a star cast is dreadful. This has to reflect back to the director. No one manages to provide perfection every time but Mr. Leigh has done so well in the past that this comes a shock. We'll forgive him and hope for better to come. Possibly of interest for the dedicated history buff, but for anyone else - goodluck with it!
