Simply my opinion but I rarely watched Countdown when Nick was given the chair. He tried hard but was not up to the mark and I avoided Countdown for some time. I was happy to hear of his retiral and looked forward to watching and not avoiding the programme. However I was extremely disappointed when Anne Robinson was announced as the new presenter. Her presenting skills have not improved over the years and her deeply unpleasant persona has not made me feel sympathetic to her role. Other people may be happy with that aspect of presentation on the show, however I disagree. I think Suzy Dent is amazing and thoroughly enjoy everything she does. I admire greatly Rachel Riley's contributions throughout the show and both of those ladies continue to make the show watchable along with all the competitors. Obviously the key to the show's success over the years. Their skills are quite admirable and to be envied. I loved when Colin Murray hosted the show but I listen to him on Radio 5 and would love him to continue on the radio. It would be good to select somebody with whom one could feel was a decent human being,
