*may have spoilers* We just left the theater. It was extremely visually appealing, but my first impression was that it ended very abruptly, like there needed to be more to the story. The relationship between Priscilla and Elvis felt like it lacked chemistry since most of their conversations were Priscilla saying how much she missed him and Elvis telling her what to do. It felt very empty, maybe that was on purpose, to illustrate the emptiness of her life/relationship. Even the way their relationship starts seems almost like what could be any young naive girls fantasy “oh he’s going to fall in love with me and whisk me away.” But this film does show bits and pieces of red flags of an unhealthy relationship, everything else you can kind of fill in the blanks. If anything I say this film is a great, aesthetically pleasing, PSA for young girls. Not the most intricate of stories, but an important one to tell nonetheless.
