Spielberg's masterpiece of Jaws is an all-time classic, and attempting to make a remake that lives up to the standard of the original was always something of an impossible task. Yet, if not for Jaws to compare it to, Jaws 2 is an excellent film, with plenty of fine set peaces and gripping suspense. From a budget of only 30 million it grossed over 200 million at the box office, so was anything but the flop it is sometimes thought to have been. And, minus Spielberg in the detectors chair, still boasts excellent acting talents of Scheider, Gary, and Hamilton, not to mention the wonderful and evocative score, once again penned by John Williams. A must see.
