This movie is a cross between a sci-fi fx bonanza and a modern day b movie classic. Yes there are corny lines and suspension of disbelief is needed, but the premise that following an strange encounter by NASA astronauts the moons orbit around the earth begins shrink, is the start of a joyous event. There are some really cliched characters and relationships, but I would suggest never taking it too seriously and enjoying the bitter sweet ride. It is a fast paced movie so while you get a glimpse into the lives of the main characters, you never stay focussed to long, before we are on to the next thing. It is low on fact and high on fiction, so be prepared for an astronaut to complain the a reused shuttle hasn’t been “repainted” on the outside. If you can get past the cliches and errors there is a movie to enjoy.
