Phoenix is a great actor. He made me feel discomfort, empathy, strife, confusion, pain, relief, and triumph as his character progresses. The supporting cast are also excellent, and the entire movie is layered with complex story telling and plot development to keep you guessing. There is well thought out commentary on many current concerns including mental health, poverty vs wealth, woke culture, bullying, and activists. It's not light hearted or funny in the way Deadpool is but it does contain a dark humour of its own. While there are murder and assault scenes they are low on gore and not dwelt on. I assume most of the hype relates to the anarchy and rioting scenes. Highly recommend this thought provoking masterpiece to anyone in need of some better quality entertainment.
