Chris Mullen does a great job putting us in Rowdy’s head as his life leads him from one crisis to another. In each scene, we see Rowdy, as a fallible character, trying his best to learn and maneuver his way though hostile situations.
The author successfully tells the story in first-person POV as Rowdy develops from adolescence to young adulthood in the face of many life-threatening trials.
By the end of this first in series adventure, we are endeared to the protagonist and thirsty for Rowdy’s story to continue. Highly recommended!
