A balanced and informative book. That is until it covers the Israel/Palestinian conflict. While well researched and factual. The author appears to suffer from "context dropping" and from there an ideological narrative takes over in parts. There is almost zero reference to the rise of pan Arab nationalism and the role this plays in the conflicts and shows a clear bias. Great read generally. But a lot of the information covered is one sided and leaves out important context where it may challenge the narratives throughout the book.
