This book was recommended to me by a student. This book reminded me in some ways of the books "The Great Alone" and "The Secret Life of Bees". As for the escapist nature of the book: Why not? I listened to this during the pandemic and it was a perfect way to escape my overly stressful every-day. As far as Kaya growing into a well-educated, well-groomed woman: Why not? This book is, after all, a work of fiction. The reason for the four stars: The too tidy, almost rushed ending.
