Robert Strunks

The photography in this move is horrid at times and at other times it's great. It's not always easy to understand what the actors are saying. Hire a better sound engineer. This problem is exacerbated by the overuse of the mid-atlantic, New York, upper crust accent. Its use might be accurate for the time but it's overdone and not used correctly in many scenes. This movie did not live up to the hype. The only saving grace is the use of many of his well known musical works. The subject matter is not the issue but rather the editing and pacing of the move. It's a real downer. Watch with caution. If you expect to see a movie about Bernstein, youll be dissapointed. It's all about his wfe and their troubled relationship.
