Started off rather poor. Got to be mediocre but strangely watchable. Too much effort at the beginning to try and make the 2 characters quickly work and connect with each other for the audience’s benefit which was all rather obviously contrived. From then on it was still rather unusual; a bit 70s thriller style, the hero rather normal and a bit useless (no bad thing) but getting more brave and somehow more competent as the film draws to its unbelievable conclusion. One of those films you may want to give up on but at the same time want to see what happens. If you are about to watch it and someone phones you to go for a beer, don’t say no to the beer. If that friend doesn’t call, it’s worth a watch… with a beer. I’d love to know as the film goes on, why the main character runs as though he has developed some unfortunate neurological condition. I know he’s Denzel Washington’s son so surely his dad might have helped him to portray a rather exhausted man running rather than a drunk one….quite amusing and worth watching simply for this!!
