I knew from the moment that Sony said Morbius would cameo in it that this film that it would be a masterpiece, but film even defies my expectations by truly showing itself as the movie that has existed.
It all starts with Madame Web just minding her day, when suddenly Spider-Man appears while fighting Doc Oc, and around the same time Morbius and Vulture are still trying to figure out where to go now that they have decided to be a team. Shortly after, Madame Web sees the future and she sees her film is going to flop, so she got angry, fired her agent, and left for most of the movie only to come back. Then Venom tries to get some of the action, but Sydney Sweeney showed up and looked stunning enough that Venom caught fire and died! Then, when some buzzkill guy called Ezekiel showed up, Madame Web came back to say, “It’s Webbing Time!”, just as Morbius came around to say, “It’s once again Morbin Time!”, and kill the guy together, with the film ending with Madame Web joining Morbius’ Team, despite a random firework hitting her in the eyes, leaving her blind and paralyzed!
This film truly is something special and in its own category. One thing is the acting, which is superb as expected! Dakota Johnson’s performance was so perfectly monotonous that I felt myself falling asleep after what felt like 20 hours! Then there’s the dialogue, and instead of doing the easy no-brainer move of carefully constructing human interaction that allows for character exploration and subtly moving the plot forward, the film makers (who made other smash hits such as Morbius, Gods of Egypt, and Dracula Untold) took the harder, more worthwhile road of just giving exposition in the most finely-tuned clunky manner that we, the audience could understand immediately, without having to turn on our precious thinking meat. The plot was so brilliant that it was capable of using the ‘and then’ storytelling method to its fullest, and it never drags on shorter than it needs to!
Madame Web is something I had since my childhood, along with Chris Stuckman, and this movie was everything that I expected to see in a superhero movie, and the future looks bright for this new superhero universe!
