Good movie but kinda gives a bad message. I have to admit it. As a teenager, I found this funny and relatable with the whole teenage point of view. Has a confusing a lot of plots to this story which makes this movie a bit confusing. The thing that bothered me was by the end of this movie the lesson that Mei-Mei was telling was that “friends come first then family”. During the scene where the parents test Mei Mei with the cats, she thought about the people she loved which was her friends. Like ayo what about your parents?!? I liked that her friends were very supportive and loved her panda or not but they also got on my nerves. First, They pretty much used her just to get money for the concert. Second, THEY STILL EVEN WENT TO THE CONCERT WITHOUT HER LIKE WHAT KIND OF FRIENDS ARE THOSE!?! And Miriam was still mad at her like come on! Admit that you pretty much manipulated her! And Mei Mei still forgives them.
before I watched the movie I was expecting the movie was to make a connection between the mom and Mei-mei (like in the movie brave). What I did like the bamboo forest scene, She comforts her mom's young self and tells her that nobody is perfect which was I think was I've only mother and daughter bond they showed in this movie.
overall I had mixed feeling about after watching this and hoping that Disney/Pixar Learn from the mistake and come up with a better message for the next movie.
