I honestly did not know what I was getting myself into when I went to watch Joker. I loved it! It was dark, intense, tragically realistic. I honestly forgot that I was watching a villain from a comic book. Joaquin Phoenix deserves an Oscar for this, as does the writers. This movie brings the sad truth of a world we are living in today. It's as if the target was to bring Mental Health awareness to the audience. For me, as a New Yorker, is something I encounter on a daily basis. I felt sadness and sympathy for him. I truly hope this movie makes people think twice on how they treat someone, not knowing what kind of day a person's had or what they are facing. It isn't intended for children. I do reccomend that every adult watches this. Great acting!
