A good indie horror movie that draws many comparisons with "Hereditary", another A24 feature film. First time directors Phillipou brothers deliver a creepy story with great pacing and groundbreaking performances from actors I didn't know prior to hitting the play button.

If you've seen the previous 2 entries, you know the formula by now: Robert McCall thinks he's left the old life behind but just when he thought he was out, they pulled him right back in... The action sequences are good, the dialogue is great but let's address the elephant in the room; a considerable part of the movie's plot is explained through dialogues in Italian with no subtitles whatsoever. Incidentally, the overarching plot is quite difficult to follow. Other than that, Denzel Washington shines bright as always and every bad guy gets what he deserves: and let's be honest; that's why you're watching the movie in the first place. - 3.5 out of 5 stars -

Review A good psychological thriller with some elements of folk horror. Reminiscent of "The Witch", but more accessible for mainstream audiences. Highly recommended for fans of slow-burn thrillers. Don't go in expecting jump scares, creature horror or gore violence. A good performance by Caitlin Gerard, and good overall direction from Emma Tammi. An easy watch at just over 90 minutes. The movie could however benefit from more fleshed out characters and the backstory is a little undercooked. A pleasant watch, do not let bad reviews keep you from giving it a try. 3.5 out of 5
