I thought The Laundromat was spot on. Entertaining and educational with a great cast. Meryl Streep, Antonio Banderas, Gary Oldman are outstanding.
Kudos to director Steven Soderbergh for creating this movie that sheds light on the vast network of corruption and fraud that corporations have created to hide their money and avoid paying taxes in the US. One of the last images in the movie is the information that 60 US corporations (e.g. Amazon, Bank of America) paid no taxes and made billions of dollars last year. And the year before.
While my husband and I just received a tax bill from the IRS for money owed from 2013, when we ran a retail store in WA state. We have been out of business since 2014. We were audited twice while we ran our business during a 24 year period, creating jobs, paying our employees a living wage and always paying our taxes. Why are they going after the small business owners when the uber corporations get away with paying nothing?
