As a trans person myself i’m always wanting to read stories that represent me and my point of view. I enjoyed this book at the beginning but ended up skimming the last few chapters because i was so infuriated with the obviously cisgender author and her scarce understanding of what it’s like to be transgender.
Why did Leo not switch pronouns for Kate in his mind once she told him she’s trans and that she wants to go by Kate? He only calls her Kate once to her face and then switches up the next day when he’s angry at his dad! He only refers to her as she/her in his mind when she’s dressed up with a wig and a dress. Trans people don’t need to pass to be referred to how they want.
Cisgender authors need to speak to actual trans people before speaking for us or shut up.
