Visually beautiful, and a fresh new look stylistically on space travel and tech, and I can't deny the grin that spread across my face in the early minutes as my inner 16 year old was having his visions played out before him. However, like previous adaptations, it falls prey to a clunky script and feels slow as too much effort is given to showing off the visuals, and not enough to dialogue that would have made the characters interesting. I can't fathom how such an incredible cast produced such a dull film. One for the fans, as I certainly don't think it will be winning over new ones, and the teens sat behind me didn't seem impressed either. A lot seems to be geared towards opening the story up in the sequal, bit I'm not convinced we'll actually get one.
