1. I get that the man character is a teenager but she is also an assassin. She acts very immature many times during the book that is slightly cringed to me. Also she eats an entire bag of candy without knowing who it is from which makes no sense to me since she is an assassin and should know better than to eat mysterious food.
2. Love triangle feels weak to me. The enemies to lovers is a tad weak too.
3. The book is almost more of a mystery novel than a fantasy novel but the villain straight stares you in the face the whole book and then the main character jumps to wild conclusion about someone else that doesn't make sense instead of seeing who is the main villain the whole time.
4. No plot twists. They say what happens at the beginning of the book, that exactly happens, there's no extra surprise really.
5. Kind of mentioned previously but the assassin doesn't do very assassiny things. The cool parts are the assassin challenges and those are barely mentioned after the first one. They just glaze over all of them, which doesn't make sense to me because that was why she was there and I wanted to see assassin challenges.
6. This is somewhat spoilers I guess but the main character had an exit the whole time. She could have left! It's not until it's close to the last challenge that she realizes that maybe it would suck to be the kings champion. I get that she would be chased but like, she is supposed to be the best assassin in the world, just kill them.
