I don’t know who needs to see this but I’ve lost interest in movies the past few years. I’ll start one on Netflix and then switch it off after a few minutes.
However this movie had me from start to finish. It is a Canadian type production feel, and I wanted to jump into the lives of the characters and be with them. I’m pretty sure had Stanley Kubrick directed this film , the cinematography would have pleased most of the critics who have reviewed it.
I’ll be clear - this was one of the best stories I’ve seen in a very long time. It was simple. It was winter in Montreal. I recommend this movie to anyone in a bit of a movie slump.
Kudos to each of the actors.
It was a 2010 film however if you catch the newspaper date in the movie it’s set in 1996. For anyone (Gen X) approaching their 20s around this time - you will identify with the large character-filled apartments in this movie - in times where a waitress could afford a large one bedroom walk up, and likely paid $375/month in NDG Montreal at this time.
Anyway, I digress, watch the film!
