*spoiler alert* Although it is a short story, there is no short supply of good lessons. Through the journey of the ‘Rita Anne’ Allsburg shows the theme of ‘addictions lead to destruction.’ Personally I enjoyed this story because of the great use of symbolism. The symbolism in this book creates a good message. I believe that this is a good book with a good lesson that many people can learn from. I would recommend this book to everyone who is struggling with addictions. This story can teach them that their addiction will lead to destruction. But this story also gives a bit of hope for those struggling with addictions. Because at the end of the story, the crew stop looking at the wretched stone and turn back into men. Therefore if you are struggling with addictions, you can always turn back.
