This is not a book about discovering exactly who the betrayer was. it is about understanding the motivations and complex human interactions in the darkest time in the history. It is about not to romanticize anything happening in the war time. It is about reminding people the danger of generalizing a group of people based by race, religion, or sexual orientation, and uses such generalization to destroy the entire population. It is about the difficult decisions that people make, without knowing the consequences on themselves and others. It is about remembering, thinking critically, and prevent anything like what happened to Anne Frank from happening to anyone. It is about remembering that there were savers, helpers, victims, betrayers, killers, and survivors in any race and nationalities. It is a shame that people attack such a thought-provoking book based on their personal / organizational interest. When people refuse to learn, think, and admit different possibilities, history can repeat.
