Very disappointing to anyone who read the books. CAVEAT: I have only watched episode one. Can't face any more just yet...
Pros:
-Casting choices seem to be pretty good.
-A lot of effort has been put into scenery/sets/costumes/special effects. A bit too clean and shiny for my liking, but I'm sure many will love it.
Cons:
-Writing is clumsy
-Pacing is breakneck
-All nuance is lost. Dialogue is peppered with disjointed statements for exposition.
- Major plot changes for absolutely no reason

Moiraines opening monologue suggesting that no one knows whether the dragon reborn will be a man or a woman is crazy. I've seen other reviews complain about the multiracial cast and extras(described as "wokery" 🤢), but since the named characters are well cast, I don't think their ethnicity makes any difference. However, the stretch to suggest Egwene might be the dragon is painful. A defining feature of the one power throughout the books is that it is completely distinct in its masculine /feminine expressions, and that the dragon reborn would be a man who would use the tainted male half of the power to break and reshape the world. If the producers wanted suspense or intrigue, they could have focused on her being ta'veren. If they wanted to show her power, focus on channeling saidar. By explicitly stating that no-one knows whether the dragon reborn will be male or female, they've set someone up to look foolish later.

Why on earth did they give Perrin a wife? And then kill her off to make him some dark, brooding, tortured soul from the get-go? Completely unnecessary if they had any intention of following plot/character development along the lines of the books (clearly, they do not).

I will probably watch at least the next few episodes at some point, out of sheer curiosity and love for the books, but I am not hopeful....
