Love the series. I devoured the entire story in the comic book and the show is not the same story, but as series, it carries the characters and plot and tome of the original. Karl Urban is terrific as saucy Billy Butcher, Erin Moriarity is as fetching as Starlight, Anthony Starr is an insanely evil as Homelander. It is the best thing on TV right now. The writing has punch, and is not the usual thoughtless drivel. Watch it. Thanks Amazon!

Even though the writers and directors of the film have skill and artistry, the film fails on so many levels that it not only does it depict a man who is a trainwreck but the film is itself a trainwreck. It celebrates an off the rails gambler who is on a death trip. There is no catharsis. It is a realistic tale of a terminal addictive personality. I know many who have died as a result of gambling. But I do not want to see it without hope or a way out. The actors are working hard and it is sad that the writer and directors failed them, as well as me. Do not waste your time with this movie.

I bought the book on Amazon Kindle. I could not follow the plot and story. For me, arcane dialog of courtiers, sniping, and perhaps the dialog of those who use words to not communicate. Dr. Weller, the author, is a scholar of the Byzantine Empire, and it is obvious that she likes Byzantine in all forms, including plot and dialog. It is not an interesting science-fiction. It could happen during the Byzantine empire on Earth. The action was interminably slow and I found the book boring. Why do so many Sci-Fi authors create Empire's ? as if that is a viable governmental future ?. It is not that I need direct action or fighting. I like Becky Chambers. Martha Wells, Rudy Rucker. Watching paint dry is not my idea of a good story.

Hellboy 2019 written by Bob Crosby and directed by Neil Marshall is a frantic pastiche, mish-mosh of many of the major storylines of the Hellboy canon. Created by Mike Mignola, it is in my opinion one of the best comic series ever. The series is wildly creative, mythic and modern, all at the same time I am a major fan. If one is going to make a movie of this material you have to be a fan. Guillermo del Toro was a great fan and his movies Show the love and regard He wrote and directed the first two movie This new Hellboy film was not made by a fan. It was made as a sendup, maybe even a joke- against Hellboy and his story. every minute of the film has a new bad storyline, a new action sequence storming across the screen. , moving so fast the actors cannot keep up with the action. David Harbour is not Ron Perlman, but he is a good actor. All of the actors are trying to speak lines that are rushed, out-of-sync, dubbed Do not see this movie. Read the comic books. They are works of genius.
