They spent the entire budget on special effects, but 2 dollars on the actual script. The character arcs are all over the place, there are character deaths just for the sake of character deaths, there are tons of stereotypes, the characters are all bland at best, and a lot of the character relationships and progression seemed forced. It could've just been an action movie with little to no plot, and it would've been perfectly fine, but it seems like they decided to introduce complex character development half way through writing the script, and just decided to shove it in with everything else half hazardly.
