If I had to find one word to describe King the Land, it’s HEALING. It’s a healing drama.
When I started on the series, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had my doubts, especially after reading about how the storyline is weak and only focuses on their love story, blah, blah, blah. I didn’t quite like the episodes in Thailand which I felt were stretched longer than necessary. I agree that the writers could have been more aware and sensitive in their depiction of the Arab prince, but that didn’t stop me from liking his character.
Junho mentioned in an interview that he wanted a drama that is light-hearted and easygoing … and it is that … and more. It is a feel-good, heart-fluttering rom-com that made me smile, grin and even laugh out loud! I love how each character developed, including the supporting characters. I love how each of them experienced healing in their own ways and were better off by the end of the series. You know the casting is great when you feel for their characters, when you let out a whoop of cheer or shed tears for them, even the antagonists.
As I got used to Won and Sarang’s lovey-dovey relationship, I started to root for them whole-heartedly, and enjoyed their dialogues and all their scenes together. Junho and YoonA nailed their parts perfectly. They were a beautiful couple, both inside and out. I like the way they brought out the best in each other and encourage one another to be happy. The finale was perfect, leaving me satisfied and full of smiles, genuine smiles!
