This was hands down the BES adaptation of Persuasion. Yes, it’s modernized and reflects a telling in line with our current cultural ideas of relationships - that is, that women are equal. If you’ve got a problem with this, well, you’ve got a problem, not the film. The way information was conveyed through Anne’s breaking the fourth wall was so well done and beautifully written. Dakota Johnson’s performance was perfect, right down to her last look at us at the end. Well done to the writers, directors, and actors.
