Ghostbusters Frozen Empire
Afterlife had its problems, but at least its heart was in the right place. From the middle of the movie to the very end, it was very entertaining, epic, and had some great practical effects mixed with great CGI. As far as Frozen Empire goes, yes, a lot of the CGI was well done. But on a script level, I have no idea what this movie is about or why it was made. The script is its biggest problem. Also, I would have loved to have seen more practical effects in this movie, more Slimer, and less of the woke teen relationship of this female ghost just meandering and walking around and endlessly talking. I felt very confined with this movie, even though it was set in New York City. It really did feel like it was shot in a different country or different location.
There are so many great locations in New York City and iconic places that could have been used to really open up the look of the movie. I felt like I was trapped in the firehouse for way too long because at least 60 or 70% of the film was shot in the firehouse. There were some interesting ideas, and it was nice seeing Slimer again as a practical effect, but I would have loved to see more of him. The movie was a huge disappointment: boring, badly written, and I just didn't understand why the story was made. But again, it was really nice to see some of the characters from the original movie in this film, especially the ghosts. I just feel that this film, script-wise and story-wise, really missed the mark. Especially since it took place in New York, there could have been so many different ways to go about this. Again, woke Hollywood strikes again, just like it's done with Star Wars recently. Weird times, my friends, very weird times.
