I loved this book for so many reasons. Ive recommended this book not only to my friends who knowingly and unknowingly struggle in regards to their sexuality, but to friends and family who know someone but really for anyone who desires to get closer to God. I say that, as other reviews have mentioned, it’s about homosexuality but it’s not. It’s so much more. JHP does an amazing job by gracefully writing a book about the foundational understanding of who God is and His love for each one of us. The Lord convicted me many times while reading the book that all sin is equal, no sin is greater than another, and homosexuality is no different from my fornication before marriage — a reminder that we must not judge others for the same judgement will be given to us (Matt 7:2).
This book gave me a perspective about a group/community of people that I did not understand and to be quite frank, a perception that I had which was worldly and not Godly. It gave me insight that like many of us even in heterosexual relationships, we get into or stay in relationships because of an identity issue. Our identity is in God and Him alone.
This book allowed me to self reflect and also truly appreciate the love God has for me. What He has brought me through in my own life. I love how she mentions that every sin we have in our life, not just homosexuality, brings us farther away from God so for me that gave me opportunity to reflect on my own sins because I ultimately desire to be closer to God.
Such a poetically written book with the overall idea and message that God is the most genuine love you will ever experience — stop running and embrace it.
Thank you JHP for your obedience in writing this book!
