As a long-time fan of the Dragon Age series, from Origins to 2 and Inquisition, Veilguard is nothing short of a colossal disappointment. The dialogue options are painfully dull, devoid of depth or nuance, making it feel like an AI wrote them. The storyline is uninspired and utterly predictable, riddled with unnecessary scenes that add nothing to the experience.
The combat is dead boring—repetitive, uninspired, and lacking the tactical depth that made the earlier titles so engaging. It feels like no effort was put into making it even remotely interesting or fun.
The only redeeming quality of this game is its visuals, which admittedly are stunning. However, even that can’t save the overall experience. Seeing the dedication of the three developers mentioned in the end credits is heart-wrenching, considering this game turned out to be such a mess.
The heavy-handed inclusion of DEI themes feels forced and detracts from the gaming experience. We play games for escapism and storytelling, not to be subjected to political or unnecessary elements shoehorned into the narrative. Dear EA, keep politics and DEI out of gaming, or your downfall will be inevitable.
