I will say that this show had me GLUED to the TV. I was absolutely so obsessed with it. That being said, I’ll give my honest opinion. First off, this show is WEIRD asf. You have to go into it accepting and preparing for that. When it started, I immediately casted away my initial judgement and gave it a chance, and it ended up being really fun to watch. This show is also based on a book series. I read some of the reviews that people were criticizing and laughing at all the different kinds of supernatural characters they “made up” but there’s even MORE creatures in the books! And yes—it is excessive and crazy, but you either can either acknowledge that and get down with it or not. Throughout the show, I did get a bit irritated sometimes with the dilemmas the main characters face and felt that it was a bit dragged out. The show focuses on developing so many characters and goes into detail about their lives. Everyone has their own problems along side the main plot, with their storylines overlapping at times. But I will say near the end, I started to want to see more of Sookie and Lafayette’s storyline and less of the others. There are definitely cheesie moments in the show, but I was so invested that they didn’t piss me off or effect my viewing experience. Lots of sex scenes, which I wasn’t mad about. The show takes a huge detour from the books which on its own is just as crazy as the show (book is even more addicting.) While listening to the audio books, I found that the things I wanted to happen in the show that didn’t happen, happened in the books (on book 9). I’m not going to sit here and say this is the best show of the highest quality ever made, because it’s not—BUT— I was addicted. It had me up all night binging episodes and plowing through seasons so quickly. For a movie critique, I can see what they might not like about the show. As a regular person who likes fantasy and sci-fi shows, this one’s a banger!
