As a Rhodesian medal collector and researcher I have bought most Rhodesian military books in the hope of finding a mention of some of the original recipients of the medals in my collection. I have found quite a number of mentions of soldiers so far and continue buy these books. I bought The Bleed and the first thing I did was go to the Index to check for mention of any of "my" soldiers. I am really disappointed in the far from complete Index. I have just browsed through the book so far and have found many more names mentioned that do not even appear in the Index, which, by the way, is indexed in first name order, not surname, and most of those mentioned show only one page reference, even though they are mentioned on a few pages. Further disappointed that the pages of the book are not even numbered, even if the Index was complete and accurate, you would still not find those names without paging through the whole book. Of course I am going to read the book, but the Index and page numbers would have been very useful for reference work. Hopefully the actual story makes up for these faults.
