The show falls short in its representation of Indian society and fails to make meaningful connections with the local culture. Despite tackling important themes such as castes, races, religions and socio-economic factors, the execution is lackluster and the show rates a 2/5 for binge-worthiness or as background noise.
The show missed a great opportunity to explore the use of flashbacks, which would have added depth and nuance to the story. Instead, it relies on overused Western themes, such as substance abuse and sexual harassment, that are common in Netflix shows like Euphoria and Riverdale, rather than creating something original.
While the show does attempt to introduce LGBTQ+ representation in the Indian entertainment industry, the sudden and forced introduction detracts from the overall experience.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but this show fails to deliver a compelling and authentic portrayal of Indian society.
