Like every movie that Wes Anderson has made since 2013, Asteroid City is basically unwatchable. The characters are unbelievable, the premise absurd, and the scenes so overly contrived that the only way anyone could actually enjoy this film, is to enjoy it ironically. Gone are the days (pre Grand Budapest) when Anderson’s movies were quirky, character driven, and charming. It’s as if he’s making parodies of Wes Anderson films.
