My major issue with the book is that with the exception of van lampley the characters are unlikable to the extent that you don't really care what happens to them

So disappointed, I loved the previous books in the series, mr mercedes, finders keepers, end of watch, the outsider and if it bleeds, so I was really looking forward to this book. Unfortunately the repeated references to covid ,masks and how stupid anti vaxers are just ruined this book ( I'm fully vaccinated btw) I started rolling my eyes about 1 hour in and by the end I was struggling to finish King states that he wasn't soap boxing, he either doesn't know what that means or can't see the Forrest for the trees, my question is, where are you editors and advisors Give it a miss
