BEWARE: There are lots of dubious reviews for this film on Google folks. Duplicates/spam and so forth. Weird. Perhaps it triggered Trump supporters — but that’s ridiculous.
Anyway, here’s mine:
SUM: Worth watching for anyone into politics and war movies. Some missed potential but totally cool idea. 4/5 stars.
• Movie needs a prequel. Too much unexplained pretext and so many questions left unanswered.
- What the heck happened?
- Who are the Western Forces and how are they better equipped than the government?
• Over-glorifying journalists. (I studied journalism and film. And I still think it’s a little much).
- Why don’t they shoot journalists?! Especially ones going to meet the president like the main characters…. The movie assumes that journalists have all gone rogue and anti-government, and that the separatists are all in favour of the media. This is so silly.
• Cool cinematics! But, no explanation once again makes this out of touch even for those with a sense of imagination.
- Overly gory for something unjustified/explained.
Examples:
- Most famous scene in the movie we don’t even know who those guys were or why they were killing people. Then the journalists don’t even pick up their guns after immobilizing them. Then they run away getting shot at. Totally unhinged scene. Absolutely unacceptable screen writing.
-2 of the 4 main characters come out of nowhere and hardly contribute
-No helmets in battle zone? Journalists tagging along no questions asked? You really gotta let this go if watching.
-Ending was too easy. Again, this movie felt like the 2 minute ending of a super long war we don’t know anything about.
Otherwise, totally cool. I’m a huge critic and notice everything. Happy I watched it.
They need to take the ideas and make a better pre/sequel.
