Overall good movie, but there are just too many things to pick on. Marvel really just added another disappointment to their faze four movies.
First, why did marvel nerf all the characters? I feel like the only character with power that made sense was America, since she was still trying to learn how to use them. It was apparent that Wanda has a OP power cause she literally rewrite reality in Wanda Vision, but it the fight at the sanctuary, she was mostly just throwing energy balls.
Doctor strange was also nerfed so much in the movie, like he literally went against Thanos and stood his ground for a few seconds, I know that wanda is at a whole new level, but we never get to see the display of full power for both strange and wanda which needless to say, would be been an amazing fights.
Secondly, I just don’t get the point of illuminate
appearing in this movie, they were pretty much just tools used to push the story, and was killed of instantly after they served their purpose. The fight was somewhat boring and mediocre at best, they acted like those stupid thugs in other movies who always fight the main character 1 on 1, if all of them worked toghether, they might’ve stood a chance, with prof x mind controlling as a distraction and all others attacking at the same time. Wanda would’ve been struggling to fight back for at least a few minutes since she didn’t what their power was, and needless to say they all get nerfed pretty badly has well.
Third, this movie doesn’t feel right with the title, it didn’t truly display the “multiverse of madness” since it was pretty much just 3 universes and it also wasn’t that crazy, again if they wouldn’ve let the character display their full potential, it would be mad enough. But most importantly above all, this movie isn’t about Doctor Strange, and it didn’t really feel like there was a main character, and even if there it was it would be Wanda or America. The whole focus of the movie was driven away from Doctor Strange because there was just so much going on, wanda was the character who got the most a character arc (kind of like Loki in the Thor movies) and Doctor strange was just “there”. Even after the movie, you won’t really remember anything about strange, but mostly on wanda or America.
Lastly this movie totally just wiped everything that happened in wanda vision, int the end of th series, wanda finally relies what she had done and already had her character arc, and here it’s just another repeat of the exact same arc, with her doing a lot of bad things out of grief, and finally stopped by her own family. We alresdy saw the grief that wanda had and she already passed it, So I don’t really understand what their trying to do here, so are the series irrelevant?
With all that said, this movie was still enjoyable, but it just didn’t live up to hype enough. A lot of the “big surprises” were already leaked in the trailer and I guess after Spider-Man, we just wanted to see something better. That might have been a result of the director change to Sam Ramy ( who didn’t watch a lot of the marvel movies and didn’t watch wanda vision) but over all it’s still a good movie, but it can and should’ve been better since it is after all a marvel movie.
