I think I was 6 or 7 when I bought this book, for the pricely sum of 90p, and I only did so because it said on the cover "By Terry Nation, the creator of the Daleks".
I read it in 1 sitting.
It would be 43 years before I found another book that had me do that.
Anyway I digress.
I was too young to understand the significance of a book with a female as the hero.
Or the fact that the "Superhero" wore pink.
I didn't care! TBH I still don't.
I wanted to be Captain K.
So much so that I made my mum dye a sheet pink so I could wear it as a cape as I ran around poking bushes with my stick shouting "Kerrrrrrsplat".
I still have that copy of Rebecca's World in a box.
I have a digital copy now that I still read at least once a year.
It was the 1st book that took me to another place and therefore an important book in my life.
Adults read this book. Then read it to your children. And your grandchildren
