Adam Walch

A charming 'small' movie that grows as it progresses. The enigmatic end scene is terrifically ambiguous, and still has me interpreting...

Major flaws, including the fact that it is impossible to keep track of all the characters for the first half of the movie...but still, a window into life in rural Maine in the 1930's that hadn't ever been depicted elsewhere, and likely won't be again.

It saddens me that magnificent films like this are such a diminishing commodity. I've never seen a movie more intimate and epic at the same time. Kurosawa may be the best film maker of all time...and this may be his best, (though Ikiru competes!)
