In a similar manner as the book " Behind bars" by Elaine Gould did set the standard for engraving, this book has good chances of setting a standard for the notation of guitar music. The challenge with guitar notation is that the guitar has an incredible huge amount of articulations, from harmonics, palm muted sounds, staccato, playing near the soundhole or near the bridge (soft->hard sound), doing percussion on different parts of the body, doing percusions sounds on the strings, as well as playing a guitar with a bow, or preparing a guitar in a thousands ways, e.g a matchbook along the strings ( over and under the strings). Hundreds of articulations have beeen catalogized. The need for standardization of such notation is acute, as current literature and notation software not even agrees on how to notate harmonics. This book shall be a reference for composers as well as software companies developing notation software.
